Soap Nuts are gentle on your skin and clothes and ensure that colours stay brighter for longer. The nuts are native to Nepal and India and are the fruit of the Sapindus Mukorossi tree.
Keep in the fridge for up to a week - SOAPNUTS FOR LAUNDRY. Place the bag in your washer then add clothes and run your normal cycle. I havent noticed any change in the level of cleanliness with the soap nuts compared to when I used my homemade detergent.
This helps to release the soap. Do NOT use fabric softeners or dyer sheets. Our clothes come out clean and not smelling like anything.
You can also use a bag clip to secure the washbag2. If youre not a fan of soap nuts natural smell those who use them recommend adding a drop or two of an essential oil to liquid soap nut laundry detergent. The quality of the berries does apparently make a difference though with sellers of soap nuts advising buying quality soap nuts for good results as these will have higher saponin content.
Used properly soap nuts can significantly reduce our laundry costs. To do a load of laundry with Soap Nuts simply put 6 soap nuts in the supplied washer bag and then toss it into your washing machine and leave it in for all cycles including rinse and spin dry. Strain the liquid put the soap nuts to dry they can be reused to make more soap liquid and once cold pour the soapnut concentrate in a bottle.
Store your soap nuts liquid in the refrigerator. Honestly its not a big deal to grab your laundry soap from the refrigerator rather than the laundry room shelf. The dried shell is full of a natural anti-bacterial anti-fungal soap called Saponin which is natures own detergent.
